BLUE NOTE MILANO CELEBRATES ITS 15TH ANNIVERSARY WITH FOUR UNMISSABLE EVENTS

Blue Note Milano, the historic jazz club of via Borsieri, the only European branch of the iconic jazz club of New York, opened its doors on 19 March 2003 and immediately became the point of reference for lovers of the genre and beyond.
In 15 years, that stage saw the performance of jazz icons such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Ahmad Jamal, McCoy Tyner, Billy Cobham, Paolo Fresu, Wynton Marsalis, and Brad Mehldau, international stars like Incognito, Level 42 and Tower of Power, Chick Corea, and some of the names that made the history of Italian music: Pino Daniele, Gino Paoli, Ornella Vanoni, just to name a few. The Blue Note was also the springboard for emerging young stars like Esperanza Spalding, Gregory Porter, Mario Biondi, and Raphael Gualazzi, who gifted the audience with unique emotions.
Fifteen years of concerts inside the venue, but also of summer festivals and events such as JAZZMI and Blue Note Off, which brought jazz music in unconventional locations.
As the tradition inherited from the legendary club Greenwich Village wants, Blue Note Milano over the years has also become a place where you can have a complete sensory experience thanks to the restaurant that, to accompany its dishes, offers a selection of Italian and French wines and more than 200 cocktails and liqueurs.
“To celebrate all of this we organised four exclusive events,” said Andrea De Micheli and Luca Oddo, respectively CEO and President of Casta Diva Group, owner of Blue Note Milano, “Paolo Fresu kicked off the celebrations last Saturday together with the two most celebrated bands that have accompanied him in recent years: the Quintet, with over thirty years of artistic career behind them and a constant inclination to renewal; and the Devil Quartet, active for twelve years, the protagonist of electric jazz and recently author of a new acoustic record.”
“On March 10 we will have instead something new, a great innovation in the tradition of the venue: the Blue Vinyl Nite,” continued De Micheli and Oddo, “made in collaboration with Radio Monte Carlo, it will be five hours of DJ sets with some of the best names on the international and Italian scene. At the turntables will alternate Bluey and Francis Hylton of Incognito, Nicola Conte and the DJs of Radio Monte Carlo Pat Rich and Marco Fullone. The event will be broadcast live from 7pm to 10pm on Radio Monte Carlo from the historic station inside the Blue Note. Together with Maurizio Di Maggio, Nick the Nightfly and Kay Rush will host the evening.
For vinyl lovers, the surprises do not end here. Inside the Club we will set up a record store that will sell new and exclusive vinyl records.”
March 17 will be the official Blue Note Birthday Party, accompanied by the music of Nick The Nightfly’s quintet that will perform with Sarah Jane Morris, Karima, and other surprise guests.
The celebrations will continue on Saturday 24 March with the Toquinho concert for the first time on the Blue Note stage.
“#Celebrate15 will also bring new sculptures by the renowned artist Marco Lodola inside and outside the venue, a merchandising line with limited edition gadgets, and the return of the prestigious Blue Note Awards with a double award ceremony that we will unveil in a few days. Blue Note Awards is the recognition that the management of the Blue Note Milano assigns to musicians, authors, writers, journalists, or characters working in the music sector who work for the dissemination of music and that everyday experience music to bring it to the general public”, the two managers concluded.
